If you love spending your free time or vacation on a bike, then Marktredwitz is the ideal starting point for your next cycling tour.
From the city, you can set out on a variety of routes. One highlight is the northern route of the popular Wallenstein Bicycle Trail, which begins at Marktredwitz’s local mountain, the Kösseine, and leads along the Kössein, Röslau, and Eger rivers through the towns of Marktredwitz and Arzberg to the Schirnding border crossing. From there, the route continues to the Czech town of Eger.
Marktredwitz is also where the long-distance “Danube-Naab-Saale” and “Main-Eger-Elbe” bike trails intersect - modern routes along the rivers that are perfect for a leisurely bike ride.
Or you can explore the Steinwald Bike Trail, the Fichtelnaab Bike Trail, the Bridge Bike Trail, and many others that are easily accessible from Marktredwitz. For those looking for a more athletic challenge, the Fichtelmountains and the Steinwald can also be explored by mountain bike.

Marktredwitz is the starting point for a wide variety of cycling adventures: from an after-work bike ride with a leisurely stop for refreshments to a family bike outing, all the way to a challenging day-long mountain bike tour or a multi-day cycling trip.
E-Bike Rental
From April through October, you can rent two e-mountain bikes and two e-touring/trekking bikes from CUBE at the Tourist Information office.
You can easily rent an e-bike through the MAK Online Shop.
E-Bike Charging Stations and Bike Lockers
Within the Marktredwitz city limits, you can charge your e-bike’s battery at four locations and securely lock your bike in bike lockers.
- Kösseine Shopping Center, Leopoldstraße 32 (parking garage, next to the Sparkasse)
- Egerland-Kulturhaus, Fikentscherstraße 24 (near Angerplatz)
- MAKBAD Naturbad, Schwimmbadweg 1
- City Hall at Bahnhofstraße 14
Charging is free. You only need one euro as a deposit to lock the compartment. Each of the four lockers (per location) has two outlets for your own chargers and USB ports for charging cell phones.
For the bike lockers (four per location), you only need one euro or a shopping cart token to lock the doors. E-bikes can be charged inside the locker using your own charger.
